Reniella Farm Olives
The Olive Harvest
The Olive harvest here in Tuscany starts during October and continues through to December. On the warm clear days with azzure blue skies each of the 450 trees is harvested by hand. There are several varieties of olives with colours varying from deep purple through to light green.

Depending on your height, you may need a ladder to pick the olives on the taller trees (Elfride often needs a ladder ) Olives are collected in nets and taken back by tractor to the cantina on the farm. In the cantina the leaves are removed using an advanced flailing machine, last used by the Romans. Every fews days the olives are taken to the press in Montepulciano.
The olives arrive at the presses where they are weighed ready for washing.
The olives are now washed and are ready for the presses.
The olive presses in Montepulciano are highly advanced. All Reniella oil is cold pressed to ensure the unique fresh flavour.
The oil is finally produced and is now ready for bottling.
